Love, love, love the story and especially the illustrations! Masterfully done. I have a new favorite author/illustrator to read!

Loved the panicking toys in the illustrations.

A huge black dog appears outside the Hope family home. Every member of the Hope family is terrified except the youngest Hope, Small. Small goes outside and has the giant black dog chase her until they get back home and the dog is small too. The Hope family realizes they had nothing to be scared of and now they have a wonderful new pet. This is a lovely story.

One of my favorites.

#fear #sel the smallest in the family faces up to a big fearsome dog - shows technique of befriending and minimising fear.

The illustrations start out dark and get more light as the story goes on. I thought that was a subtle, powerful way to show fear and less fear. Definitely worth checking out!

I haven fallen in love with this book.
