This was my favorite of the Meg Powers books. The first three were written 20 years ago so it's interesting to see how the author has progressed. The last book is for an older audience then the first 3. I really hope that there will be more stories about Meg.

A few weeks ago, when I learned that there was a 4th book in The President's Daughter series that I read and loved as a teenager, I knew I had to read it. It was addictive reading -- I stayed up too late reading it several nights and had a hard time putting it down. I wasn't disappointed -- it was fun to get into the main character's head again, with her humor and deep thoughts. It was also interesting to see her off at college -- and dealing with issues of sex as well as recovering from her ordeal in book 3.

This book isn't one that I would have pick out for myself, but something about it caught my eye. After skimming the first few pages in the bookstore, I was hooked. I read the entire 650+ pages in a day, pausing only for naps and sustenance. It was a brilliant portrayal of a presidential family who have been through a horrific tragedy and are realizing that putting everything back together may not be a possibility.

Epic ending to this series, which I loved on the whole. Why don't more people know about it? Read the full review at Slatebreakers at http://slatebreakers.com/2013/01/14/review-long-may-she-reign-by-ellen-emerson-white/

This book was a far cry from the generally lighthearted tone of the first one.

This series was one of my absolute favorites as a child and I was so pleased to find this last book. I was less pleased with the actual book itself.
I got stuck around page 400 where I realized I no longer cared about anyone in the story or what was going to happen next.
I skimmed the last few chapters walking back to the library to return it. Very sad to see such a great series end so badly.

On the one hand, I wish this book had been edited slightly, because it was really long and I didn’t feel like it needed to be. But it was also a really nuanced look at trauma and healing and I can’t be too mad at it.

I have been waiting for this book for over 15 years. Ellen Emerson White was the reason I went into writing as an undergrad. She is the reason I wanted to go to Tufts and then Sarah Lawrence. I grew up reading these books and TOTALLY identifying with the main character, who is a young woman named MEGHAN - with and H!, but they call her Meg (just like my close friends.)
This book was amazing. My knee actually started to hurt with Meg as she struggled to get around. The writing is smart. I found myself looking up a vocabulary word that was new to me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. That being said, I'm not so sure if people who have never read the other books would love it like I love it. For me, it was like coming home to an old friend.

I loved this series when I was a teenage and I am glad that Ellen Emerson White chose to write one more book to finish the series. This is a better ending but I would read a 100 more books about Meg and her family if she would write them.
