On the whole, I enjoyed this read: the subject is obviously one of my favorites and the book had some memorable passages. I liked the tangents taking us through various works of art and literature (even if I took issue with his blurring of male love/friendship) and the breadth of the examples given is quite impressive. I think it might have been better suited to an essay or talk, however, as it was a bit repetitive without packing any punches - it felt more like I was listening to a very well-educated person explore an interesting topic, but I’m not sure what specific conclusions or new insights I am left with.

Our friendship promises—and continues to promise, as long as it lasts—a better future; but all that I can know about that future is that I can't approach it with anyone but you.💜

An interesting read. He had some excellent points, specifically about Christianity and friendship. I didn't agree with everything he had to say, but worth reading regardless.
