This was amazingly eerie and I absolutely devoured it. There's hints of dark academia, female friendships (fucked up friendships at that) and such vivid descriptions of horrible men and sex cults that, for now, I'd rather become a nun than engage in BDSM. The narration was so fascinating, it times it turned into an unreliable narrator and that just added to the creepiness. It took a bit to get to the action but god, it was so worth it and all the back-story gets so important later. Might be my new favourite thriller!

P.S.: Is Jamie one of my top 2023 MMC's even if this isn't a romance? Maybe.

I am still processing my feelings about this book and I’m sure I’ll continue thinking about it in the days to come.  A few of the twists were entirely predictable. And the frequent verbal unburdening didn’t feel natural to human interactions, and instead felt like a ploy to move  the plot forward without actually writing the plot. The vignettes were written in a very confusing way, and by the time you know their significance, they don’t seem to matter anymore.

Over all, it was engaging and hard to put down. I’m not mad I read it, but I don’t know if I would recommend it. If you do, definitely review the content warnings first.
