This one surprised and enthralled me from beginning to end. At first, I thought it was based on the Sarah Lawrence cult, but it turned into something really fascinating and validating to read. HOWEVER, there are many triggers in this book. Make sure you’re in a good, safe, headspace before reading.

DNF at 60%. Please, for the love of GOD, look up the trigger warnings on this and listen to them.

I am not normally triggered by content like this. The thing is, I’m not triggered by it but I feel physically weighed down, a solid 10 pounds heavier after reading this book. It is so dark and disgusting to me personally that I couldn’t get past the content and just appreciate the good story underneath. I have to put this down a read something happier before I never want to leave my bed again. 😖😖😖

I really enjoyed how this book pulled me in bit by bit.  I always enjoy a timeline that works around a college setting and the flashbacks here provided just enough to hook me in the beginning.  This book had so many twists and turns.  Podcasts are also a favorite of mine so this added extra fun for me.  Topics are pretty deep for some so check trigger warnings.  Definitely a top 5 book of the year for me.

The handmaid tales ON STERIODS --Culty Cult Cullllt and the worst part is that I could see this happening in our world today MORE than The Handmaid's Tales

This book was NOT for me. It’s obviously about a cult, but it goes way overboard with super graphic descriptions of sexual and physical abuse against women. I get that it’s supposed to be dark, but it felt like a lot just for shock value, and it really put me off. If someone asked, I’d say don’t bother —it’s not worth the discomfort.
