Woah.

I couldn't follow along with this one. Might be because I did the audio and I wasn't fully ingesting all the information. I kept getting characters mixed up and aside from the main plot line I had no idea what was happening half the time.

I received a free copy from the publishers via Edelweiss.

My god, that was awesome.

I had very high expectations of Get Even because I love mysteries and I love revenge stories. It did not disappoint and was strangely addictive. I would definitely recommend to fans of contemporary, and fans of [b:Burn for Burn|13406425|Burn for Burn (Burn for Burn, #1)|Jenny Han|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1332791803s/13406425.jpg|15571673] by [a:Jenny Han|151371|Jenny Han|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1284428061p2/151371.jpg].

Margot, Kitty, Olivia and Bree are from completely different social circles. Margot is an overachiever who doesn't have many friends, Bree is a bit of a rebel craving her father's attention, Olivia is a popular drama student and Kitty is the captain of the volleyball team. The four girls share a very special secret - they're all members of the Don't Get Mad revenge group, a group set out to seek vengeance for their peers silent suffering at the hands of bullies. They've managed to stay well hidden until one of their targets ends up dead and DGM are the prime suspects.

I cannot even contains my feelings for this book and I was thinking about it for DAYS after I had finished it. It's one of those books that leaves you with a serious case of book hangover. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it and sorting through the clues and my list of suspects. Get Even is seriously full of suspense and I loved every damn second of this thrilling ride. It's cliché at times, cheesy and overly dramatic, but who gives a damn? Because this was a seriously fun and addictive book that leaves you eager for the next one.

That cliff-hanger though, my god.

Ok, now one of my favourite things about Get Even were the characters. Each had such distinct personalities and I loved each one. Kitty and Bree were quick favourites, with Margot slowly creeping up on me. I honestly didn't expect to love the characters as much as I do. I loved John as well, and Logan and Ed the Head, and suspicious of so many other characters. Just like the girls, I'm having a very hard time trusting them. Rex and Amber I hated, as with the Coach, because they're typical bullies. I know for a fact that bullies get away with it, and this book showed that (melodramatically of course, but did it nonetheless).

I've read some mixed reviews. Some loved it, some not so much. I highly suggest you pick this book up September 16th and find out for yourself whether you'll love it.

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK. I JUST NEED TO GET MY THOUGHTS DOWN SOMEWHERE. SERIOUSLY, MAJOR SPOILERS.

SpoilerObviously, the murder has nothing to do with DGM and it was more than likely Rex that planted the DGM card. I haven't got a clue why Amber was with Ronny the night he died, I'm hoping that will be cleared up in the next book because it's totally bugging me.

It's very possibly that the murder and the anonymous sender are two completely different people.

I don't think that Ed the Head is the murderer, but for some reason I have a sneaky suspicion he's the one that's giving the girls the envelopes. It's said that he knows how to get information, so it he seems the most likely suspect. However, then there's John who was in Bree's closet, has access to the DGM cards and her yearbook that is suspiciously missing a page, along with the others from the school and library. There's also the missing newspaper piece and he looking and acting very guilty towards the end of the book. Even if he's not the one that is sending the envelopes, he definitely knows who it is. Not the murder, but very likely to be the anonymous sender, or at least an associate.

As for the murderer, I still think Theo is a likely suspect. He saw Kitty and Olivia with Ronny the day he died, and so either knew they were DGM and is sending the envelopes (though I find this very unlikely) or he is the murderer and framed it on the girls. Or just killed Ronny, and it was Rex than framed it on them.

As for Logan, I'm not convinced he is Chris...

I personally don't think the murderer is Rex or Amber and obviously not Coach, and with Coach dead, I've run out of suspects.

Ugh OK, yeah. My thoughts are messed up, as you can tell.

I seriously need the next book.

A really suspenseful and engrossing read and a thoroughly addictive thriller. It really does get you thinking about who did it and there are so many unanswered questions and clues and I'm really trying to put them together. Starting Get Dirty in 3, 2, 1...

Adults taking students out of class to demand they investigate a murder they don't think the police are doing a good enough job on? No. Just no.
Also there was literally one bullying revenge plot that amounted to fuck all before the murder happened and it all stopped anyway so what the point of that being what the book is supposedly about? Teen-drama-y and just generally not believable.
