WOW! just wow!
This one made me cry more times than I can count. All the different storylines were so perfectly spread out, and I thought that they came together at just the right time(even if in my heart i wanted the couples to already have their happily ever after). It was a really long book, but it surprisingly went a lot faster than what I anticipated. Its hard to pick a favorite character because the series has so many great ones, but seeing Elide and Lorcan and the growth they went through UGH IM GONNA CRY AGAIN! I never really liked Chaol but SJM did such a great job developing everyone that I did not hate him in this book. I wish I could have seen more of Manon, but I understand she was not a MC. All in all, the series is LONG AS HELL! BUT so so worth it. I remember being skeptical at first when people recommended I read 8! books, but now being on this side, I totally understand.

I don’t know what to say, my heart was shattered and put back together again over and over again. I’m in love with this series and these characters and I’m sad that it’s over. As always we see phenomenal growth and development from every character throughout the story. There was always something happening with multiple different sub plots and quests to aid in the overall story. This was the absolute perfect culmination of our characters and story to round out this series.

I put this book off for a while, too scared of what I thought would happen to take the plunge. I’m a little sad I waited so long.

This book is an emotional marathon but one that is absolutely worth it, especially for the

happy

ending.
It manages to connect every thread (including the seemingly tiny ones you might not have even noticed) going all the way from the shorts in the Assassin’s Blade prequels and continuing through each book in the series; closing every loose end & answering every question, giving every crossover, cameo, interaction, character, joke, fan favorite, and wish, its moment in the sun. Weaving together into a beautiful tapestry with branches you can see going out into their futures.
It will keep you on your toes, breaking your heart, and then remake it with your day. Be ready to cry, and scream, and have your jaw drop with its twists. And be ready to smile, laugh, and have new inspirational phrases.
It is a finale worthy of the entire series.
And definitely worth the read as one of the best (and most emotional rollercoasters) of the books!

There is also a continuing feeling of “doomed fate” that characters are “tired of fighting” and moments of “giving up”. This is furthered by trauma, PTSD, and suffering leading characters to “want to die” or more so not “want to live” with it. I wanted to read this book as before this series, I had never read any of Sarah J. Maas’s work and I was so excited and interested to see what the hype was about. I was kindly gifted this series and A Court of Thorns and Roses by my parents. So, I thought I would start at the beginning. I’ve been really enjoying this series and this final book on the series has had me on edge since the second book. This book and journey were so worth it.

This book is about Aelin, and she has risked everything to save her people, but at a tremendous cost. She is locked with an iron coffin by the Queen of the Fae, Aelin must draw upon her fiery will as she endures month of torture. Aware that yielding to Maeve will doom those she loves keeps her from breaking, though her resolve begins to unravel with each passing day. With Aelin captured, Aedion and Lysandra remain the last line of defence to protect Terrasen from utter destruction. Yet they soon realize that the many allies they’ve gathered to battle Erawan’s hordes might not be enough to save them. Scattered across the continent and racing against time, Chaol, Manon and Dorian are forced to forget their own paths to meet their fates. Hanging in the balance is any hope of salvation and a better world. And across the sea, his companions unwavering besides him, Rowan hunts to fund his captured wife and queen before she is lost to him forever. As the threads of fate weave together at last, all must fight, if they are to have a chance at the future.

Okay, this book – THIS BOOK. I didn’t want it to end. I love the characters; I loved the storyline and the action. I still love Aelin, I love how strong and how much of a leader she became. I just wanted her to succeed so much and the fact that she had becoming so successful made me want to cry. I love the multiple POVs during this book and it made the storyline more interesting. I wanted the whole series from Rowan’s point of view. I just love that Rowan’s like you’re not going to die, and we will do whatever you want besides sacrificing yourself. I love how Dorian grew up so much during this, compared to the first book, it was like watching a TV from series 1 after you’ve just finished the newest series and being like “oh, they look like a baby.” My favourite chapters were the reunions between our characters. Especially with Yrene and Aelin that didn’t know they were going to reunite and then they did and recognizes each other instantly. Then Aelin and Dorian reunited and then Aelin and Aedion. I loved all of the reunions before the massive battle.

I usually struggle with war books because usually there is a lot of build-ups and a lot of camping and talk and no action. But this book even with the build-up and the camping, something was always being discovered, someone was always wanting to help, someone was willing to sacrifice themselves that I was so stressed for all the characters until the end of the book.

I wanted this book to go on forever and forever. I wanted to see Aelin take court and to do it with power. I wanted to see Yrene and Chaol becoming parents and having a whole bundle of children and Chaol reuniting with his mother. I wanted to see Aelin and Rowan becoming parents and having a bundle of children as well. I wanted to see Aedion and Lysandra’s wedding and to see if Dorian and Manon ever got engaged or married. I just wanted another book where they all get a happy ending with no conflict whatsoever.
