This book is slow to start - it didn't get exciting until about 50% in. Reading Terry Brooks can be a chore sometimes but I feel like I'm finally getting used to him. I recommend this book because of the lore and the final half of the book. Super enthralling!

I read a lot of the negative reviews about the book really dragging along and can see where they are coming from. However when I purposefully let myself be drawn in and focused on the reading I was in. I loved this book.

My only problem with the Shannara books so far is the world doesn’t feel as realistically large as it should. The world-building just isn’t top-tier.

Re-read this book again, first time since the early 2000s. Great series and decided to make notes this time. Walker's journey of self-discovery mirrors my own, so this book speaks greatly to me.

4.22.2022 - re-read this again, still great

Enjoyable read with interesting new characters and a satisfying story. Another great entry in this series.
