I love Rick Steves' travel show, posts, and walking tours and I wanted to get to know more about him. I think I should have read the description a little more closely, because this feels like a 'best of' book rather than a memoir. Some of this felt like things I'd learned from him before, so I was a little bit disappointed to not take a deeper dive into his personal story. Still, a nice one to add to your list if you're planning some travels!

Lots of entertaining short essays make this a great bedside book for dipping into as the desire takes you. I love these short bites of delicious Europe by my favorite travel guru.

I skimmed parts of the book. It felt quite overlapping with the show.
Can’t wait to travel again! Thanks for the stories, Rick.

I will not go to Europe without Rick Steves and this book only confirmed it. He makes me want to go to the less popular areas in any given place to see and be around locals. I will definitely refer to this for future travel. My favorite part is the culture commentary from his Dutch friend. The guy has nailed it. Last, I was little surprised how fond Rick is of public bath houses. A hard pass for me.

I enjoyed listening to Rick talk about his travels at all ages. The familiar brought me great memories, and the new gave me ideas on where to go when we're able to travel again. I started traveling to Europe when I was 18 - and I'm 72 now. I, too, have seen many changes over the years - like seeing the Cistine Chapel for the first time with maybe 10 (tops) other people in the room. Can you imagine?

Similar to his travel as a political act and has a couple of the same stories Rick Steve’s does it again. I’m planning to go to Europe (different countries over years-starting with the UK and Ireland this year) and this made me want to go even more. The stories were all great and I particularly enjoyed him talking about the difference between the place and America

Nice, light read on Europe. Enjoyed hearing stories of places I’ve been and places I’m headed.
