I was told this was lighthearted, and I guess it kind of is, but the amount of graphic violence/injury didn't feel especially lighthearted to me. Also more nonconsensual drugging than you might expect.
My actual complaint about the story is that the version of Doran we meet at the beginning of the book stops existing like two chapters in and never comes back. Once the plot gets going he's a completely reasonable person with zero prejudice against poor people.
Which does seem like a weird thing to complain about, but the point is, if you're looking for enemies-to-lovers you're not going to find it here. At best it's allies of convenience to lovers.
Either he or Lara, idr, even comments at the end of the book that it feels like he's a completely different person who would never do the things he did before. Yeah. It's called bad writing.
Oh, they also say at the end that they and the rest of the cast have become a found family. Which is great for them and all, but it would have been nice to read about that happening instead of just being told about it after the fact.
