I was surprised 'cause I seem to remember some of the plot points of this book but I have no memory of actually reading it, so I guess I skimmed it in my local library at some point. As the previous one this book continues exploring not only a fantasy mystery (with shockingly real consequences given the target audience, this is something I have always liked about this series) but also the different personalities of our protagonists. And oh boy, are they different, most of the time they can't even stand each other. The complicated relationships that develop between each of the Chosen Ones continues to be a focal point of the book which I love, I don't think it would have been realistic for them to become fast friends. Such a great job portraying the power shifts and realities of being a teenager even though it's not the main point of the book. 4'5/5 'cause I'm not totally happy with the ending, I think a certain character deserved more although I'm hoping for a change in the 3rd one
