this book was a complete mess but i found myself enjoying every chaotic moment of it.
the overall plot was a bit bonkers and ridiculous....but it kinda worked? it didn't feel like it was dragging on for forever and lestat and david's interactions were funny enough to keep me entertained.
the claudia stuff though......god. that broke me. i am always here for crumbs of claudia and lestat's relationship. i thought claudia being lestat's voice of conscience was a fantastic choice and weaved into the overall story quite nicely.
i went into this book with a sour opinion and i think i actually enjoyed it a lot more than i had thought and possibly more than queen of the damned. It had a story that started and ended in the same book and wrapped up in the way i thought it would. it was overly complicated and relatively short compared to anne rice's other books.
so yeah. i liked this one. it was a stupid and it was fun. lestat should never be allowed to make decisions like he did in this book ever again and should NOT be left alone because chaos ensues when he is.

This was the book that finally steered me away from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. The first two were good. What started out as an interesting series dives head first into soft core homosexual porn by the time you get to this book. It's cringe to say the least. If you're in it for the history and the vampires, beware. Sure, Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat have tinges of sexuality, but it never took away from the story. This is just total gayness. Nothing wrong with that, but the entire theme of horror, mystery, historic fiction, everything that made Interview so great is gone. It's been washed away by naked guys groping each other. Queen of the Damned and its hate for men kind of nose dived us here to this point, where any and all masculinity is geared towards homoerotica.

I just....am not as obsessed with Lestat as Anne is. I couldn't get invested in this. I will be skipping the next book and stopping this series after the vampire armand

Finding this hard to rate cus if I could delete one scene the one where Lestat rapes the waitress this could be my favorite in the chronicles so far. Huge fan of how stupid Lestat is in this.
