More like Slightly Bored…
2,5 stars
This was a marriage of tremendous inconvenience for both parties and it was painful to read. Eve kept pining after some viscount who had never proposed and Aiden after some general’s daughter he was not able to propose to anymore. For most of the book they didn’t want to have anything to do with each other. At some point they fell in love and I have no idea how and why.
The writing was good but the story dragged and I even considered dnf at some point. It was frustrating how much they hated being married to each other and how much time it took them to warm up to each other. Then there was mutual pining and constant internal whining about how they would miss each other after their short time together was over

The writing was surprisingly good - appropriate for the story and had some nice lines in there. The romance was very under-baked in my opinion though and there were some moments while reading that I felt 🤮. But i guess those were quite few for a 20 year old historical romance. I'd say it holds up fairly well, I liked Eve's household and the found family element, I always do but yeah the actual development and depth of their relationship was lacking.

Ahh, vacation. Time to read. Enjoyed this even though for the last 50 pages I was eager for it to end "All right already! Admit you love each other!"

I was invested in the story but the pace was SO slow. A lot of pining when a simple conversation would have cleared things up.

Cute. No delayed separation, no miscommunication other than expressing feelings. No 3rd act breakup

A great slightly sweet family saga. The sex is sorta lady chatterly and somewhat boring, but the characters are full-blown and its an enjoyable read.
