3.0

This was an interesting book to be reading at this current juncture. With storylines in WW2 Germany and at the modern-day Mexican border, much of it feels too familiar. Too many horrors are being perpetrated RIGHT NOW that people experienced and warned us of. Why are we.not getting it?!

3.75

3.75 only for Elsie’s chapters. I couldn’t care less about Reba, and I didn’t believe her relationship at all. I understand the connection being drawn between the evils of unbridled nationalism in the US border patrol and Nazi Germany; however, Reba’s chapters just weren’t interesting, and I wish better justice had been done to the subject of American imperialism and nationalism.
