I loved this sm
Its really short so its super worth it.
It was really creepy and scary and full of historical pastiche and i love vampires in mexico🧛🏼 also we love a villain who has like 1 moral (doesnt *like* kids).
S.i.m.p. Squirrels in my pants!

The writing style really compelled me, I'll have to read more books by Fuentes. There's definitely a lot of allusions to more classical/popular vampire literature. Of all the allusions to Stroker's version I think the most tasteful is having the main character be a lawyer helping Vlad move to a new city like Jonathan Harker. An immortal ten year old vampire with golden ringlets was an obvious nod to Rice.
I liked the choice of having Dracula having actually been Vlad Tepes. The description of the horrors he managed to inflict during his mortal life remind the reader that the violence humans have inflicted on one another are worse than anything someone could imagine a supernatural creature doing.
