Hades and Persephone modern retelling. It was a fast and easy read. I enjoyed the book but I didn't love it. To be honest, I was a little disappointed. I wish their romance would have been developed a little more. The ending was rushed. Also, I wish there would have been more of the Greek mythology involved. This wasn't really a "retelling" they just slapped Greek mythology names on these characters and called it a modern retelling. It was mediocre.

The first 3rd or so was engaging but the writing has all these mistakes of positioning, like not fully telling you someone was in a different room now. Also it Ended with scenes that needed more threads connecting the themes and characters through the whole book to make the conclusion more impactful. I enjoyed the premise, but the execution was rough. And I also don't fully understand the only magic exists in the barrier between the cities, but nothing else seems to have the special powers that the gods have in mythology.

I really liked this book (vibe reader here)! I'm not super familiar with the Hades/Persephone mythology - but this was a super fun modern day retelling with lots of spice and super likeable characters. Looking forward to checking out the rest of the Dark Olympus series!

“Zeus is notorious for not wanting what he considers tarnished goods.” I take a deep breath. “So…tarnish me.”
“You’ve ruined me, Persephone. Forgive the fuck out of me if I want to return the favor.”
“Take what’s yours, Hades. I want you to.” “You aren’t a princess. You’re a fucking siren.”

3.5 stars — A modern retelling of Persephone and Hades. So modern that there are cars and video calls and IUDs. There’s no plot for the first 80% of the book, just
