There's more meaningful character building in this than there was in the others (partly thanks to Shen Qingqiu finally realising he lives in this world now) and the world building ("filling in plotholes", according to the system) was a little less cartoonish. While I still love the beginning of the series and how meta it is, I almost wish Shen Qingqiu had been willing to invest this much in the world the entire time. The wrapped up storylines for Tianlang Jun and Yue Qingyuan were so incredibly sad but lovely; Luo Binghe's everything was great and sad; learning more about the original flavour Shen Qingqiu was also satisfying but incredibly sad - they're all well written and sad, okay.
All in all, it's a great ending to a fun, dramatic series. If you're looking ahead to see if it's worth getting into what is considered MCTX's 'worst' series, it really is. Sure, there's pacing issues and hang ups from being a serialised web novel, and the relationship between Luo Binghe and Shen Qingqiu is very toxic, but by this last book MXTX has improved dramatically and the characters are worth becoming invested in.
Graphic: Child abuse, Violence, Blood, and Death of parent
Moderate: Sexual content, Sexual violence, and Abandonment
Minor: Gore, Suicide, and Abortion
