Disturbing, gut wrenching, horrific, difficult to read, but AMAZING conclusion to this duet. We know what happens to Addie at the end of book 1, and when I read the trigger warnings at the start, I chuckled. This book is a LOT darker than book 1.
It does start slow (but right where book 1 ends) while we are with Addie, and it is horrifying. The abuse is real. Listen to the warnings. The redemption and healing is real too, and so is the journey.

But the best line is at the very end and I laughed so hard. I don’t want to spoil it but it’s within the last 4 pages.

Adeline has been taken. Revenge against Zade, to be sold into the skin trade. Her price tag directly proportionate to Zades enemies hatred of him.

This book is the epitome of "touch her and I'll burn the world down." It's brutal and raw and makes me want to ask the author, "who hurt you?"

It's very tough to read. Graphic descriptions of violent r*pe pepper the pages. I knew this going into it. It was the reason I put off reading these books for so long. I thought I was prepared by reading Haunting Adeline, and now I know that was nothing. Sunshine and roses compared to the barbaric onslaught that is this twisted tale.

Trigger warnings can not adequately prepare one for the bombardment of degradation that follows these characters. Red rooms, barbaric rituals, mutilation, and r*pe spread through the pages like a sinful virus. I covered my mouth because I couldn't bring myself to cover my eyes. I needed to know the ones I was falling in love with would survive.

The Adeline chapters are so depraved and depressing that during them, I long to get away, to Zanes' side. Once there, I'm so worried about what is happening to Addy, all I'd want was to get back to her. It became a vicious battle that I couldn't tare myself away from.

“If you’re my death, then I’m your fucking lifeline.”

As much of a hard time as I had liking Zade in this first book I fell in love with him in this one. I now understand why people refer to him as a "book boyfriend." Not only is he the embodiment of tall dark and broody, but he also is a modern-day batman. Saving women a children from the evil clutches of the dark market, abuse, and death. He would go to the end of the world to save Addy as he shows again and again.

"As if conjured straight out of a Rob Zombie film, she steps out of her bedroom door,"

Sibby....the comedic relief. She is unhinged in all the best possible ways. A creepy murderous living doll. Every time she graced the pages, I found myself giggling right along with her.
