Very very very heavy topics. Dark. So sad.

Disturbing, gut wrenching, horrific, difficult to read, but AMAZING conclusion to this duet. We know what happens to Addie at the end of book 1, and when I read the trigger warnings at the start, I chuckled. This book is a LOT darker than book 1.
It does start slow (but right where book 1 ends) while we are with Addie, and it is horrifying. The abuse is real. Listen to the warnings. The redemption and healing is real too, and so is the journey.

But the best line is at the very end and I laughed so hard. I don’t want to spoil it but it’s within the last 4 pages.

I really struggled through part 1 of this book. It was rough but I also think it's a really important thing to know about because these things happen in reality. Part 2 was amazing. Addie working through her trauma and becoming an absolute bad ass was great. Also Sibbys comic relief was so good 😅 I LOL'd quite a few times at her antics. Looking forward to when she gets her own book with Kraven because now I'm super curious about that dynamic. I think this was a great read but I definitely need something a little more light hearted before I continue with the HD Carlton books because woof, that was a long one.

This book was so close to becoming a 4 star rating for me!

But unfortunately as soon as Addie was saved it went downhill for me. I found that the recovery was rushed just to get to the sex, the sex was definitely not my cup of tea and Addie was just annoying more often than not especially when she started the whole revenge thing, I thought it was cool at first but it got old pretty quickly due to her team-ups feeling more like a scooby doo get together than an actual serious situation and when Sibby was involved I just couldn't read the book as seriously as it was set. The book also felt like it had dragged the ending out too much and there was still too many questions and not enough answers.

Despite all the books shortcomings I did still enjoy it, but only for part 1. Part 2 felt like a whole different category and I didn't enjoy most of it, I kind of felt how I did when I read the first book and I wasn't a fan of that either.
