I might have screamed. Why? Because the damn book ends in a cliffhanger, and it was so well written that I'd devoured it in a single day. What kind of author does that to a poor reader?!
Anyhow, the story follows the misadventures of Thalia, who is trying her absolute best to live quietly and secretly until her life gets invaded by a threesome of dangerous Fae who have been hunting for her (not that she knows that). Trouble ensues.
We're introduced, in reverse order of likeability, to Kallan, Grey and Dane. This last one really needs to have his head bashed into a wall a few times, probably Grey as well, but you know that saying about being an idiot. Life is only hard for the people who have to deal with you. 😔
There's quite a bit of baggage for all the characters to open up and go through, and we didn't get a lot of that in this first book while everyone seems to be figuring out the baseline of their interactions. Grey and Dane are seriously unlikable for their initial interactions, and while Grey makes some small recovery towards the end of this installment, Dane will have to crawl on his hands and knees and beg forgiveness for quite some time as far as I'm concerned.
As far as I can tell, we'll be getting all of that long awaited baggage opened up in book two, so looking forward to that already.
