Thank you so much to the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
Now, I sincerely missed this world and from the first page, I was hooked and glad to be back.
Usually, second books in a series are all about world building. We get introduced to a new world with the first one and then it’s the time build and expand. That’s certainly true for this book as well.
The first quarter of the book was focused on giving us the full picture, the new characters involved, their powers and the politics in this new part of the world let’s say. I absolutely love politics and schemes in fantasy books so I’m not complaining.
I also genuinely appreciated that while diplomacy and schemes were being laid, the plot progressed but also characters grew. Not in a linear constant way but you could feel it. It was genuine, they had setbacks and insecurities but thanks the gods they talked about it.
Creon and Em have a long way to go but this laid the foundations for their journey.
I loved the dynamics between the characters both main and secondary.
Other then this, I really can’t say much without spoiling it. It felt like this had to gave us the next piece in order to create the whole picture that’s coming together in the third book.
Also, spice and romance are to die for in this one.
