Pretty good, it’s difficult to have a five part book series that covers one overarching story while keeping every book interesting, but this book does just that. The journeys to the different countries and the different type of people that they meet were all exciting. The cliffhanger ending was well done as well. Honestly think I liked it more than the first book in the series since the action was a little more fast-paced.

The Eddings moderate their xenophobia in this volume somewhat (finally) but at the expense of ramping up the misogyny. I’m remembering why I didn’t really always love the Mallorean, but still carrying on.

In the second book of Edding's the Malloreon series, King of the Murgos, the story continues with the band of heroes searching for Belgarion's son. However, while en route around the world in the hunt for the kidnapper (Zandramas) they are unfolding the secrets of yet another prophecy.[return][return]I have mixed feelings on the second book in the series. On one hand, the fantasy epic continues and the characters I have grown to love over the last several books continue to keep my attention. On the other hand, the Malloreon as a whole is so similar in storyline to the Belgariad that I feel a bit cheated. Either way, I am continuing on because I need to know how the story concludes. On to the next.

This book brings us back to the Eddings pace to which the reader is accustomed. I was very glad that the pace returned to normal after the last book. As per-usual, the banter is on point, and the story is very well written. Have I mentioned that I adore Silk as a character, 'cause I really do love him. The way he drives everybody up the wall is simply fantastic (Though, I might not be so amused if any of his cracks were aimed at me).

Like much of this series the author taking more time means the story is just that little bit richer and more nuanced. This one has it all though betrayal, politics, flight and is course some cracking banter.
We learned a lot more about Zandramas and the actual quest that is going to be required.

I listened to these all at once so I can't remember what happened in which book, but I like them all.
