Okay, now I understand the crossover. My bad!

I loved seeing Alice and hopefully we will see more of her.

New storylines to enjoy

I read several volumes of this back in the day but never finished it so I decided to start a reread. Way more interesting to me than the main Fables title right off the bat but my issue with Fables was always that they chose the absolute most boring characters to focus on and with Jack as the main character here that's absolutely not an issue. What can I say, I love a story about an absolute asshole that you're going to root for anyway.

Love Bill Willingham's work. Not sure what this series is missing. Maybe I feel the picaresque Jack isn't smart enough. Could he pull off a fiendishly clever scheme for domination, or dream of more than personal gain? Is he patient enough to pull off a complex plan? Guess we will see in the coming volumes.

I'm not extremely knowledgeable about graphic novels--especially those for adults but I enjoyed this read. I enjoyed the humor and the story.

I thought the storyline, although predictable, was satisfying and fun. It was a nice, enjoyable quick read in between some other obligations.

Update: Here's my full review http://bookishrealmreviews.blogspot.com/2016/02/jack-of-fables-vol-1-2-by-bill.html

Okay to be honest in order to appreciate this spin-off series you have to like Jack from the original Fable tales. If you don't then this spin off series may not be for you. Jack is rude, arrogant, stubborn, and an all around jack ass, but I find it hilarious so I'll definitely be reading some more of these before I read the 13th volume of Fables.

A fun spin-off of the Fables series.

The chauvinistic, half-baked adventures of Jack continue in his own series and its fun. Really, really, fun. Willingham and Sturges introduce readers to a new collection Fables and more. The return of an old antagonist and the introduction of a really new one make this book very good. The authors' complete sense of this world is outstanding. Its great to see writers having fun with characters they obviously care about. The art was very good at times but also too unfinished in others, especially for a new series. Overall, a very fun book! I'm going to read the next one right now!

Not a bad start to the Jack of Fables series.
It starts where we last saw Jack in Hollywood bring stripped of his success, riches and Nimble Studios by Fabletown.
New characters are introduced as well as the return is everyone's favourite golden haired criminally insane Fable.
I often find the Jack character a little irritating but that is also the point of Jack of Tales. He's an arrogant, self-obsessed, lying, monologue driven douche who gets into some serious schenanigans which just so happen to be entertaining stories.
Bill Willingham and Co continue to produce a great story, art and immersive world with characters where you want to read their exploits.
It may not be as good as Fables, but this is only Volume 1 and I'm more than willing to give the series a fair trial.
