Author writes female characters about as well as any other fantasy author of the era. Poorly and constantly in a sexual context (or existing only as a romantic or family counterpart to a man). I'd like to finish the trilogy out, however I won't return to the Riftwar saga in a major way.

Entertaining, but all of E Feist's books are effectively the same story with different names

It's been far too long to give this a proper review as I read this in 2004. I enjoyed it as a young boy and remember I couldn't wait to read it after school and to get my hands on the next one.

An interesting middle book of a trilogy. Its darker in theme than some of Feist's other work, the protagonist is not always likable. Still, the pace of the story was good and interesting overall.
