This was a re-read after many years and it was very easy to get through. I wasn't devouring it like I thought I would, but Watson has a very easy writing style. This book does have a slow burn/enemies to lovers romance, but go into it for the development of the main character as that is the heart of the story. She is recovering from trauma and is learning to trust again. This character development is set against a dropback of protecting Alba (Scotland) from being invaded by the Romans. A fair bit of spiritual content, but nothing in your face.
