This was ok. I recommend diary of a bookseller instead.

This is a light and funny read. I needed something like this as a palate cleanser between the bigger books I've been reading. Whilst the people described in this book seem annoying, I do hope to meet them in my own (future) bookshop someday.

Enjoyed the first two more; they transported you to working in a bookshop.

I recognize the book was supposed to be about a cantankerous, grumpy bookseller stereotyping customers but at times it felt just plain mean. Some parts were fun and interesting warranting 2 stars.

I only wish this were longer! As I said just a few books ago, I could listen - I do these on audio - to many more of these books wherein a grumpy Scottish bookshop owner just complains about (and sometimes thinks deeply about) his job.

This is a delightful, and super quick read. Even when it was “mean,” you could tell the author has a real fondness for his wide-ranging customer base, the good and the…not-so good. I loved the memoir bits, and I am looking forward to reading his other books. I probably should have started those first but oh well! Parts of this made me smile/giggle in recognition (or react in horror if *I* had been one of those people hahaha)
