Leyna has two dreams : becoming a wizard and being part of the royal guard, the Huskarl. As a poor decision and a leg wound may stop her from achieving her goals, she finally succeeds in her objectives and begins a wonderful career at the castle. But rapidly the dream turns into a nightmare as tragic news arrives of an attack on the king and his court during their travels.

Wizard’s Masquerade is full of mysteries : who is the jester that is constantly teasing Leyna and who wishes to see the King dead ? If you love guessing games, that book is perfect for you ! It is the perfect mix of romance and fantasy, all that in a Medieval atmosphere. I love how the heroine evolves during the novel : from a naive narrow-minded twenty-two young woman into a strong female character that understands that everything in the world is not necessarily black or white.

Ok people. I present to you my favorite September read ! Wizard’s Masquerade was an extraordinary book. I laughed. I screamed. I insulted the characters. That book was a pure moment of joy. I loved everything in it from the writing style to the atmosphere, and from the characters to the world building. And look at that beautiful cover ! To tell you the truth I picked up the book because I loved the cover. I didn’t even read the blurb. I don't regret it !!! This is Jay Pellegrin’s first novel and I cannot wait to read her other future creations. She is an extremely skilled author that I highly recommend to discover. Wizard’s Masquerade is a true page turner and I cannot wait to read the second book of the series !

I did not sleep at all last night because I could not put this book down. I loved it so much and I can't wait for the second book in the duology to come out! I appreciated that it was a slow burn that didn't just instalove the two MCs together. The book took its time to develop them as characters while keeping the intrigue of the plot going throughout. I also appreciated that the FMC had some very obvious flaws and you get to see her growth throughout the story as she comes to terms with who she is and what she believes. Agh! Love love love this book. So good.

Do you ever read a book and have to take a break from reading for a while? That’s exactly what happened to me after finishing this book.

Wizards Masquerade is a long, slow burn fantasy novel that features wizards, demons, and court politics. I often found myself envisioning Hogwarts from the 1800s, as much of this book takes place in a castle.

I thoroughly enjoyed the romance in this novel, though much of the book felt like it dragged on. This book is over 500 pages long and took me 8 days to read. It’s not a book you can read in one sitting, and I found myself only able to consume it a few chapters at a time, otherwise I was too overwhelmed and drained to keep reading. In short, the world building is heavy and the court politics is very prevalent.

If you’re someone who enjoys fantasy with an edge of mystery, and romance as a subplot, then this is the book for you.

I received this e-arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book starts by immediately putting you into the middle of action as Leyna is taking her maze exam to qualify as a wizard.
We then follow Leyna as she begins work in the Royal Guard and meets Jester.
I really enjoyed the romance in this book between Leyna and Jester - it’s had just the right amount of slow burn and I was happy when Jester turned out to be who I thought he was!
I felt the ending was maybe a little bit rushed and I would have like to see more interaction between Leyna and the other characters as life started to return to normal.
Overall this was a really enjoyable read and I would definitely read the next book to see what happens!

WOW! The Wizard’s Masquerade was adventure that I couldn’t put it down. It’s the adult version of Harry Potter that we all want and need.

I love everything about it! The characters, friendships, slow-burn romance, mystery, banter from the Jester, and of course Floofy.

Jay Pellegrin is an artist with words, that made Leyna and the Jester’s world come alive.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this eARC. And Jay for sharing your work with the world. I can’t wait for the next book!

MY OH MY! I truly enjoyed this book right from this beginning and stayed wanting more way beyond the last page.

FMC Leyna has just graduated and is on to her dream job to defend the king.
Her first obstacle is leading MMC Jester and his merry band on a journey to the castle. The Jester was by farrrrr my favorite character and was very complex, mysterious, and playful.
I felt like Leyna often read younger than expected, but overall I did enjoy her character and look forward to seeing her journey continue in book 2!!!

Magic, murder, mystery, intrigue, steamy open door romance scenes, amazing world building, and a cast of curious characters make this book seriously hard to put down. I truly enjoyed it all and am waiting on pins and needles for the next book to come out to see what decisions Leyna makes.

This book focuses on an aspiring wizard on a journey to achieve her goals and uncover mysteries. This is well written with great pacing, it has a good plot with characters to love and others to hate. It kept me wanting to uncover what was happening throughout.

liked it but it isn’t the best.
The FMC is a twit and up her own arse I actually can’t stand her.

The romance I liked that’s one of the reason I carried on reading

Because the Plot was predictable

I loved the that the jester was the love interest.

The first few chapters were really good but it lost me in the last couple chapters

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a honest review

I really enjoyed the narrator and felt the voices for each character were unique and distinctive. I also enjoyed the story and struggled to press pause because I constantly wanted to know what happened next.

Thank you to Jay Pellegrin and NetGalley for access to an audio copy to listen to & review.
