A wonderful book on mental illness that would be great for both older students (4th+) and adults who are parents or have children in their lives. It explains very thoroughly and simply how depression, anxiety, trauma, and more affect kids and adults. It helps kids to understand what is happening when a parent has a mental health disorder, and also touches on children's mental health and emotional health.

While I would be very comfortable having this out in my 4th and 5th grade classes, on the bookshelf and referring to sections during social-emotional education, each teacher should read through it and make sure they are comfortable having it on the class bookshelf or reading sections in class; the book is very honest about eating disorders, violence, abuse, and other topics that may be too much for your students, especially littles.
