Not a book I thought I'd enjoy, but this was such a good book. I loved the story and the world building, and the characters.

I only read a couple of chapters of this. It felt very lacklustre, and I didn't like the main character at all!

I really struggled with how many stars to give this title for a few reasons. Let me start by saying that I freaking LOVED the premise and the story telling! That was 5 stars all over the place. I enjoyed the characterizations and the world-building, too.

The thing that brings my rating down are that it’s weird to have a created world that still has, like, months, for instance, instead of some created time-keeping. In fact, the water clocks make the remnants of months that much more confusing. Or, like, the clothing. Slacks and shirts and saris and jackets? I dunno. Seems too easy.

However, it ended with a perfect setup for a sequel, so I hope I see that.

The story is great. But I will say I felt as though some things were left out & I was a little confused at time with how their world is set up. I feel like there is a lot of missing pieces.

The story was good and fascinating. I just hated the ending.

I liked this story overall, it was an interesting world and characters. Sometimes the writing felt off and descriptions misplaced, but I was compelled enough to keep reading to see what happened. While the events weren’t a surprise, they were still interesting enough to keep going

A razor-sharp return to deadly games. Everything to make me happy: south-Asian based fantasy, a rough world, a heroine protecting her family, rock solid family dynamics,
Spoiler a romance that plummets (sue me), and a tad of an ambiguous ending

Not at all what I expected unfortunately. Felt like a mixture of different books/stories that have already been done. Nothing new at all when I had had the opposite impression. I didn’t connect with any of the characters either or the story. I had to push myself a bit to get through this one. It wasn’t bad just not for me.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book
