Short stories aren't usually my thing, but The End and Other Beginnings has a few shining stars. Inertia begins mysteriously but was surprisingly emotional for me by the end. Hearken was such a unique idea that left me wanting more.
The Spinners, Armored Ones, and The Transformationist were all good, but felt ... incomplete. (I often feel this way about short stories.)
Vim & Vigor just wasn't for me. Although still sci-fi, it felt like it didn't quite fit with the rest of the stories.

DNF with only parts of the first three stories read, then gave up - the seven or so fantasy stories had a ton of promise⦠but it shaped up not to be for me.
The first story was interesting but didnβt warn me about the self harm and it threw me off.
The second was way too detailed about creepy aliens.
By the time I reached the third I was pretty much done, and when it started talking about mask wearing and bio warfare I was just ready to be finished.
