I made the mistake of reading this first without reading the others in the series. It was a free copy in my kindle library so I just read it. Maybe i will reread after reading the others. And then I will understand more.

I read this novella prequel to the Feud Trilogy before I read book one, so I ended up feeling kinda sympathetic to Carlin.

(Which, of course, dissipated very quickly when I hadn't gotten very far into The Sparks.)
