Gripping, and skillfully plotted thriller set in 1930's  Berlin, which successfully portrays the decadence  of that era,  the  rich historical  detail  and the  politics of that time.  as we follow  detective  Gereon Rath on the trail of a serial killer, he is manipulated  by his  powerful father to undertake other secret investigations,  with danger looming on all sides. I was hooked from the beginning,  after seeing the TV series  I was worried the book would be disappointing.  How wrong I was!  The storyline  is so good that your attention and focus  never wane . 5.75⭐

This book sat on my nightstand for the last year, and I only finished it this week because a) coronavirus and b) I wanted to read it before watching the third season of Babylon Berlin. Spoiler alert: this book has next to nothing to do with the third season of Babylon Berlin other than ostensibly providing the source material.
