I love this story. Helen does a great job of building a world with great characters that you can get lost in. I love how strong Senara is and how she keeps getting back up even though everyone keeps kicking her down. Thorne is a good man until he discovers Senara secret. This book ends with a major plot twist that leaves you craving more. I can't wait for the next one.

this book was amazing
Senara and her almost sister wyn are magic and moon marked but always had a glamour. Senara was part of the kings guard where she became friendly with the cool eyepatch wearing kings blade thorn. These two had massive chemistry and very steamy moments. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for book two to see what happened to them all once the reached the veil.

Senara, a warrior who has been called from the front lines to join the King's Guard, has a huge secret that would cost her life. The night before she reports for duty she has a casual fling with a guy in a bar who turns out to be her new boss. The draw between them is unnatural and strong and I love the tension in each scene between them.
The side characters are good as well, especially Senara's 'sister'. I wish there was more focus on the side characters as an overall view of the world, but that is only a minor complaint.
Overall I'd give this 4/5 stars, only losing a star because I felt it was a little rushed and I think starting at her arrival in the capital with very little flashbacks to her time at the front left Senara's character feeling undeveloped and a little unbelievable. I will still be eagerly awaiting book 2, though!

Literally nothing happens in this book I genuinely don’t know why I bothered to finish it, half arsed plot and even worse writing genuinely the worst thing I’ve read this year

Delicious Whirlwind Worth Rereading
This book is the epitome of edging. Just when you think you reach the climax, the story takes the most decadent turn until you feel the crescendo only to be doused in a bucket of cold truths that rock you to your core. Could reread several chapters again and again just because they were so damn good.

Seriously, EDIT. Interesting premise, pretty hot sex. But the editing… yikes!

I’ve been reading this author for a while, and I always get nervous when an author I like starts a new series. I shouldn’t have been too worried because this book is a great starter. Senera has a big secret she’s hiding, and she’s trying to keep it covered at her new job. Nothing seems to go right for poor Senera, but she holds strong through it all. I enjoyed this book, but I wish that she wasn’t picked on so much (why would the King’s guards act that way?) and that she has spent more time with Thorn. I am also excited to learn more about Wyn and Ronan, too. One last thing…that cliffhanger…sheesh! LOL! Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

The story seemed to start off slowly but by the end I was totally enthralled. Senara is the main character and we learn a lot about her. She is stronger than she looks and is marked by the moon. But the world she lives in fears magic and the unknown. She and her best friend must hide what they are and what they know. She will face pain and betrayal but still stand strong. This is a series and the ending is a cliffhanger and then some.
