This is such a well-rounded origin story. The Man Without Fear is told through film noir-style narration, depicting one of Marvel’s grittiest heroes.
Matt Murdock is not the perfect vigilante. His punches are an incredible weight on his shoulders: Daredevil, a guilt that both suffocates and empowers him.
Miller’s take on the story is compelling. Matt’s emotions are tense, he feels real, but the world before him is less so. His relationship with the people around him is often detached. Matt carries himself like an “other” — a man engulfed by sin, fundamentally different than everyone around him.
The story is characterized by corruption. Daredevil is a wound fighting against a wound; Matt against the Kingpin.
The perfect set-up for future storylines.
