This was one of my favorite reads of the year! The cross cultural experience that is Cafe con Lychee was so beautiful to see unfold. The coming of age romance thrown in with the hope of saving their parents shops in the face of a new competitor was so fun to see. The romance that developed between Theo and Gabi through shared hardships was beautiful. I loved this book~

This was a very YA story that is somewhat enjoyable, but there are too many subplots that just don't land very well. I do love a good food based book , but this left me both wanting less of somethings and more of there things.

I like that out main characters are from two different cultural backgrounds. You grow to like these characters more and more as the story progresses and I felt like the story and characters were believable. I also liked the growth and progression of that we saw with each character. This was an easy to read, well paised story. Overall, I'd say this was a sweet, enjoyable, LGBT+ read that kept my interest. Give it a go if it sounds good to you.

the world needs more interracial gay romance!
this book was really nice to read, its not my demographic as its clearly for teens but its reassuring to see literature for teens with queer centered plots, especially between poc. Theres times its written kinda fanficy but i dont think thats necessarily a bad thing. I also REALLY love that theres a Puerto Rican protagonist, it’s really hard to find representation of queer puerto rican people and Cafe con Lychee really delivered. This book was so fucking cute

i first wanted to give this book 3 stars or less, since a bunch of plot points felt flat or unbelievable even tho the story generally was cute but the whole part about feeling like you are always in the shadow of your older siblings, like you aren't good enough and the homophobic grandparents was relatable as well as well written (ironically, i got this book as a gift from my homophobic grandparents)

Boba? Enemies to lovers?
Sign me up.
Though the characters were slightly annoying and felt 2D at times, j still liked this book. Great for high schoolers who are feeling alone in their identity or just for anyone to learn more about the experience of other people.
The parents being stereotypical was a bit too much, but glad everything had a nice ending. Wholesome.
