Mouais ? Des moments pas mal, mais bcp de déjà vu et parfois un peu plat

Sometimes it felt like there was too much going on, but I liked the drama and mythological references.

3.5 rounded down. So much family drama! learned after the basis in mythology of some of the bigger plot points. Seemed like maybe had too much going on to flesh anything fully out

3.5 stars. I taught Greek mythology for years, so I loved the premise of this book. I had a slow start but once I realized the family connections and the conflicts started unfolding, I was pretty invested. But by the end, I found myself not really caring. There didn’t seem to be a lot of options for any of the characters, and I didn’t really connect with them to care what happened. The ending felt somewhat satisfying, but by that point, I was ready to move onto the next book.

Once upon a time, this book caught my eye when several book lovers on IG shared about it. Aside from the awesome cover, I was drawn to it because it sounded different and there were elements that all seemed like a neat read! I eagerly put it on hold and then…..completely forgot why I had done that. When it came up at the library, I just dove in.
The more I read, the more I got hooked by the drama. But I also kept thinking, “geez, this family is just horrible to one another!” I continued reading, holding out hope for relief or some redemption at least!
Only after I read the book did I go back and discover the reason I had been interested in the first place. This book is a retelling of Greek mythology.

A modern retelling of mythical stories set in small town Texas that was both fun and clever.
