2.5 stars, really. I don't regret having read it but I can't recommend it either. The first three stories were worth 3 stars. 4th story was too short to qualify. Did not like The Age of Desire aka The Rapiest Rapes. For one thing, rape. But also the dude straight up fucks a brick wall. I don't have a penis, but this makes me feel like my penis hurts.

Of the books of blood I’ve read so far, it’s not my favorite. Some of the stories were excellent (the body politic), while some fell flat for me (The age of desire). So a mixed bag, but overall above average level of enjoyment.

First story was interesting, second went on way too long, the third was good. The fourth story wasn't worth the time and the last was bad. I think I'm just not into Clive Barker. When he's writing the twisted body horror, I have a good time but too much of it is sex focused. He also seems to take pleasure in victimizing women and they're written terribly anyways, just man obsessed vacant bodies.

For me, the weakest installment of the Clive Barker's Books of Blood series. "The Body Politic" and "The Inhuman Condition" were the best of the bunch.
Books of Blood volumes (that I've read to date) ranked:
1. Volume 1
2. Volume 3
3. Volume 2
4. Volume 4

One of the follow up collections of short stories after his Books of Blood (in England it was another book of blood). In any case, some great short stories that aim to horrify; it's not as strong as the first three collections (Books of Blood), but worthy of any horror collection. "The Body Politic" really stands out.
