Some things about this book in the form of a list (spoilers unmarked but nothing really happens so it's not really that big of a deal lol):
- There is a Justin Bieber reference
- The main villain doesn't show up until the last little bit of the story. He was too busy releasing the bubonic plague into New York City for no reason. This plot thread goes nowhere and never impacts the main story or characters
- A boy named Sam and a girl named Samantha become lovers. The fact that they have the same name is never discussed. Also, she actively wants to kill him
- There is a catfishing pedophile who lives in a broken down shed
- The only black person -- or person of color at all -- in this whole book shows up for about 2 pages and is then killed. The only other black person in the series is mentioned briefly as an afterthought but never has any page time.
- Even though he declared his undying love for her in the last book, the pasty bland brunette protagonist is unsure of the how the hot white love interest of undetermined age and magical abilities feels about her for the entire book until he kisses her and they promptly have sex even though it is illegal (because she's not a full vampire and he is)
- She wants to be a full vampire but he doesn't want her to be. She is literally a half-vampire with almost every trait of regular vampires but he doesn't seem to consider this
- They briefly visit her old school for virtually no reason and are invited to 2 separate parties that they don't attend
- Child services isn't involved even though 2 minors have no living or known parents. They just travel cross-country with no issue
- Various animals come and guide them on their path because nature is happy for them
- One of these is a wolf pack. The protagonist adopts a wolf pup and carries it around, feeding it slim jims
- The pasty and bland brunette protagonist is the vampire messiah. She is also, for all intents and purposes, King Arthur
- The hot white love interest of undetermined age and magical abilities has magically-changing eye color for no explained reason
- Continuing with the word "coven" being attributed to vampires and not witches, the entire history of the Salem witch trials was also about vampires and not witches
- Morgan Rice says that vampires that feed on the nastiest, grossest things ever -- homeless people and prostitutes -- are the nastiest and grossest vampires. This is actual canon. Superior vampires feed on clean things like wild animals
-
Can we all agree that Sparkle Vampires are a lot less stupid than Plastic Wrap Vampires?
- Beethoven was a vampire
You could say that this book was not Loved by me

Caleb stepped out beside her, as he was finishing wrapping his arms and neck in a thin, clear material. It almost looked like Saran wrap, but it seemed to dissolve in his skin as he put it on. She couldn’t even tell it was there.
“What’s that?”
“Skin wrap,” he said, looking down as he wrapped it carefully again and again over his arms and shoulders. “It’s what allows us to go out in the sunlight. Otherwise, our skin would burn.”

Estoy harta de la protagonista, es insegura, ama a los 3 segundos, y es necia. Lo siento el primer libro mas o menos logró intrigarme aunque empezaba a molestarme la prota pero ya no puedo mas. No lo terminaré.

I hated this, Caitlin and Caleb were that "we're soulmates, we'll be together forever. I love you so much" like bestie???? yall just MET. I'm fucking dying and I actually mean that I am not going to continue this series.

I'm so sorry, little vampire book. It's not you, it's me. I knew, going in, that I would not enjoy this story. I'd read book 1 and just did not connect with the story or characters. But I needed a book for a challenge and this one was the shortest kindle freebie I already owned so I grabbed it.
If you like vampire stories, this might work for you. There are adventures to find a sword, family, and even talk of the Salem Witch trials & scrolls to follow. So it's an adventure type story embedded with vampires that are trying to live good, by not biting people.
If it sounds good to you, go for it. It just didn't work for me.

Ok book. I still feel the romance part is not well developed and sometimes the dialogues are irritating . The character keeps using the word "LIKE" so many times and its so irritating that I don't want to go further into it. I felt it little similar to Twilight . apart from that it's an ok book

Short story, short review. Overall, this was an decent read. A few more thing stood out to me as being different about the vampires in this story than what we are traditionally used reading about in this genre. Vampires get weaker as they get older, instead of stronger. The Vamps in this world can commit suicide with a little yellow pill, etc. Like I said in my review of Turned, I still believe that these stories are two short. Turned and Loved should have been one book. One of the last lines of Loved is Caitlin telling to Caleb, “Turn me!” …as she begins to die. That’s how I would have expected Turned to finish.
In this book, we follow Caitlin and Caleb as they search for the sword that will either save or ruin the world. Sam searches for his dad, falls for Samantha. Samantha, on the evil Vamp side, really only wants to find the sword, thus using Sam. The evil Vamps release a toxin intended to kill everyone. One of the evil vampires (I can’t remember his name right now) is ousted from their group and he goes on his own hunt for Caitlin in hopes to also secure the sword…blah.
Honestly, I’m not sure that I will even continue on in this series, the story is okay, the characters are okay. Nothing memorable and nothing to keep me coming back for more. I want to feel vested in the series and urge to know what happens to Caitlin and Caleb, Sam and Samantha, and the evil vampires vs. the good ones…but I don’t. I was hoping that the 2nd installment would grab me, but it didn’t. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’ve read tons of YA books, and liked them. The issues I have with this book isn’t because it’s “too young”. There is just something missing.
This was a decent effort by a self published author. Those who love all things vampire, no matter what, may like this book. But those with a more mature taste in the vampire genre, you should probably pass on this one.

Adding a review for this as I've rated it without a review.
A lot of things have happened since. 2014 Was a very hard year for myself so all the reviews are showing up on the same date. I can't explain why they are, if the ratings are justice or accurate I can also not say when I truly read these. I'm just going to say 2014 on the same day added just to keep the year right if not the month...
