Gay and space and Doctor Who levels of science usage and found family and aliens? This was so fun and heartfelt and I loved the relationships between all the characters. Always some flaws but I’m a sucker for a happy ending

The author has a lot of learning to do. I expect they improve greatly with time. The highlight for me was all the Star Trek references. The lowlight was mentioning Tiktok IMMEDIATELY. You don’t want to date your sci-fi novel immediately with a brand name. I understand that you want to create realism - but with science like that…..
it also suffered from a severe lack of tension- any question posed was immediately answered by an quippy omniscient narrator.
