Oh my word, Simon Bisley's art is amazing! It's a perfect fit for the character and the story. I'm reading Slaine in order and this is my favourite by far. The mythology, the characters, the story arc, everything works so well. And again the art, so good it deserves another mention, every panel is beautifully executed. If you do decide to read this I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I'll definitely be reading it again...

Sword and sorcery barbarian fantasy from the pages of 2000AD. Gorgeous artwork, though it takes itself rather to seriously, even in its frequent moments of comedy, in a very 80s way.

Still, the underlying message of rejection of constructed Masculine values for more naturalistic Feminine ones is interesting, as is the idea of myth being a constantly evolving and developing cycle.

The Horned God is peak Slaine. It is beautifully illustrated by Simon Bisley still holding up 30 years later. A true classic of art and story combined.

I read Slaine because my husband was such a huge fan. I love the story, but have to admit I'm not a huge Bisley fan. Because of the fantasy in the story Bisley's art style is a perfect fit. Mills nailed the Celtic lore. I can't wait to read more if the story.
