Goosebumps was a highlight of my childhood and helped set me on the path to being the horror fanatic I am today, though due to either timing, availability, or both, this was the only book in the original series that I never ended up reading before growing old enough to move on to more adult stories. After finding this in Goodwill and reading it, I can see that I really didn't miss out on much.

Some good ideas with poor execution. There was little to no spooky factor here, at all. The adventure aspect was mildly enjoyable, and the monster ended up being wholesome. The snowballs were the most interesting idea and if Stine had focused solely on them as a concept this novel could have been chilling, but they were almost added as an afterthought. Better book than some, worse than most.

I enjoyed the adventure elements of this one, but thought the title was a bit misleading. Also, in a greater context I thought the idea of
Spoilerlocking up the abominable snowman in a box was truly horrifying, and travelling with it frozen. For one, it helped save the kids and also treating any being like that feels wrong and I just found it
disturbing beyond the context of book.

4.5 stars, I really liked this one! I wanted more info about the snowman and Arthur leaving (felt like nothing was resolved there) but other than that it was a really fun quick read.

What a waste! I loved the first 80% that was all set in Alaska, but it lost me when they came back to Pasadena.

Ridiculously silly and just enough scary for the kids. Trip down memory lane.

Diving back into Goosebumps from when I was a kid. I don’t remember this one from back then but it was pretty good!
The main character was so annoying but he’s a kid so it’s expected
