This was a super cute book that my 3 year old son adored. It has knights, dragons, castles, and fights. It is written simply enough for him to understand, but is difficult enough for a beginning reader. What I really liked about it is that it taught a little bit of history, geography, and vocabulary within the book. It had a map of England in the front, and vocab words in the back.

A time-traveling, dragon-filled trip to the Middle Ages that manages to impart useful information about this era in history in a way that won't overwhelm young readers. Bonus points for the mini-timeline, glossary, and info blurbs at the back.

I really liked this, it's a great intro to history for beginner readers. The Middle Ages is also a tough time to tackle with little guys. My only concern is the dragon. I am a concerned that the dragon may be taken as factual, and that is confusing. I hope whoever is reading this with a kid explains that.
