Ok, Bilan!

Good conclusion to a good series. The once strong, seemingly formidable Ellis family went through some changes in this book. Fortunately they had Bilan in their corner to help them get their minds right and push through, so they could get back on track.

I was so proud of Bilan and her growth. Earl went down and the whole family fell apart. Bilan stepped up and made tough calls and told folks about themselves when they really needed it. Everybody shocked me at some point, but I think Earl and Irene shocked me the most. I was already side-eyeing them for their clear preference for Sadik, but their near inaction regarding Iban was disappointing. Those two needed to be called out about their behavior regarding their children years ago.

As proud as I was of Bilan, I also wanted to give her a good shaking. Putting herself and other folks in danger because she wanted to be treated like a grown woman was crazy, given her new family. Sadik annoyed me, too, because while I was happy that Bilan put Sofia in her place, I really thought that that was Sadik's job. Same with Tiffany. He put himself in too many compromising positions with both of them, especially since he knew how they felt about him.

Interesting cast of characters, but with the exception of Sadik, Bilan and Tasche, I never have to see any of them again. It would be interesting to see how Iesha and Ivana turn out, though.

Love Belvin continues to do her thing in her own lane. You keep writing and I'll keep reading!

Bilan, you have the power!

Not Bilan being the glue that held the Ellis family together! In the first parts of this book series, I was annoyed with her a lot (I know she was going through it but dang girl stand up). Book 3 was all about her coming into her own. She was brave, loyal, and unapologetic. Loved her character development.

Unpopular opinion, but the conclusion/ book 3 truly brought to light how much I hate this couple. And really it changed my POV of the previous two books. Which is my fault, but I was expecting things to go from toxic and crazy to healed and healthy in book 3.

Oddly enough it wasn’t Bilan’s naïveté that annoyed me, more than her weird assertion of power and complete role reversal with the Ellis’. I get her family system conditioned her to have poor boundaries and except any treatment from family. But she was doing TOO MUCH when it came to the family during the “war.”

The audacity to pop off on Monica— as if Iban wasn’t a trash behind husband was unfair. It was then I firmed in my opinion of Bilan. And the Ellis’ men were wrong in the handling of her side piece. The whole family was walking contradiction!!

Sadik was worse than Azmir! There was no redeeming his treatment of her. He completely manipulated her from the beginning of the relationship. And all he had to do was issue some orgasms and boom all was forgiven.

I mean the man would keep her from seeing their son when she wanted. He basically forced her to having a nanny, just so she can be accessible to him at all times. Which for him meant all the damn time.

By the time the story was concluded, I was disgusted with both of them- more him than her. We never saw him become a better man. While Randi was trashed, he wasn’t any better in delivering that news to her. When this was addressed, I thought she would finally hold him accountable. Apparently, she was just simply accepting her fate.

The gender thing around Rory and Brenda was weird and completely unnecessary to the story. In the same breath so was the sexual orientation discussion in regards to Talieeb, Rory, and Brenda. Most especially during the epilogue when discussing Danny and Leeb’s relationship. As if Bilan and Sadik are the poster child of healthy relationships.

Family Ties

What a great end to book that started on a real whirlwind!!!…Tiffany worked all my nerves and wanted her presence to be felt by Balin, gave her what she was asking for with that shoe upside her head for sure!!!…Balin growth was one that I truly enjoyed watching over this series!!!…
Sadik and Balin definitely kept the sexual tension, the action and the headaches going!!!…
All the raw emotions from Monica had me walking away from the book, you could feel her pain in her story!!!…I was glad to see her choosing herself for once!!!…
Randy was definitely that friend that have to unfriend to keep your sanity and self out of lockup!!!…
I loved me some Rory!!!…I was shocked to see that she was actually dealing with a man from the description and personality in this series!!!…That fight at the mall took me all the way out and Balin laughing calling her a side chick!!!…That was a much needed laugh!!!…
Jason definitely had a wish for Sadik to reach out and touch his soul!!!…The fact that he was seeking Balin out and constantly showing up amazed me!!!…Well, he got the gangsta part of her from all that training!!!…

Awesome...Sadik and Bilan had there ups and downs. I'm glad they finally got it together because the both of them was getting on my nerves. I guess it turned out Bilan was that ride or die. In the end I started to feel sorry for Iban especially after finding out what happen to him when he was younger and then his family tossed him to the side like everyday trash because of something he was ordered to do. Then they still kept away after his "accident" glad Bilan told them about themselves. And I love Rory...but you didn't have to do my girl like that. I was thinking one thing then come to find out another. Rory a side piece. That whole scene had me in tears.

Completion...

Completion not only for this series but for Bilan and Sadik... In this series Love tackled something new while bringing her tried and true writing style. Falling in love with Sadik and Bilan while visiting old friends like Ezra was a joy! The dynamics of this family, the depth of this story, the brokenness of these 2 people could only be brought to life by a literary genius like Love Belvin. As usual I'm in awe of her prowess with the pen. The series is a must read!!! #ISaidWhatISaid

I really appreciated Bilan’s journey in this one. You could really see how much she grew up. The family dynamic was still fascinating and I appreciated there was a sense of reality in the struggle.
