Bothered me that the translator used the word corn when it would be a rather long time before the columbian exchange would happen. The Odyssey is such a good story though sound of the summer. Have you guys heard about the odyssey.

Once you get into it, and understand the story, the Iliad is so fun and interesting, telling of the battles between the Greeks and Trojans and delving into the character of Achilles. For the Iliad, I would suggest an annotated version, for a better grasp on what is going on in the story. It gets a little hard to follow at times with the many characters and settings. I defiantly prefer the Odyssey, the story of Odysseus and his epic quest to return home to his wife and son. During his journey, Odysseus faces giants, gods and goddesses {many of whom seem to be against him} cyclopes, sirens and more, as he races to return home before his wife gives up on him and marries one of the dozens of suitors who have camped at the house to woo her. In my opinion, the Odyssey is easier to follow and doesn't need explanation as much as the Iliad did. Obviously these stories is not Christian 😂 but they are a fabulous resource to learn the worldview of the ancient Greeks, which has been my incentive to read it 😊

Illiad = endless war saga with too many egotistical gods trying to get their way by using anyone they please.
Odyssey = all the stories I remember.

There's no wonder that these stories have survived.
