I felt like this book was one of the least toxic romance novels I've read in a while, with some good character development and growth and people able to find their way back to one another.

The things that annoyed me didn't outweigh the quality of the characters, but I found it frustrating how Vanessa tried to control her family with money.

Overall really enjoyed the story but some of the plot points resolved way too quickly imo, especially when dealing with really serious topics like hoarding and drug addictions. Finding out it wasn't actually ALS that was causing her hand numbness felt like an afterthought, but I love a happy ending when the overall theme is life's too short to dwell on the bad things so I'll let that slide. I can suspend reality to an extent but everything being resolved with a week of therapy is wild, as much as I wish that were the case irl haha

Okay so I really enjoyed this. It was pretty predictable relationship-wise.. but damn if that epilogue wasn’t the ultimate cop-out! You can’t have us preparing for her early death by hinting at symptoms for the entire book & then surprise- she’s fine! I was ready to be devastated Me Before You style. So minus a whole star for that ending 🙄

But I will say- I love that Abby Jimenez uses her platform to shine light on things like grief, infertility, & different medical conditions.

This one kind of had the same effect on me that The Friend Zone did….I don’t know how to explain it.

Like building up this awful terminal thing the whole book and then just miraculously getting past it. I’m not saying that it doesn’t happen like that in real life sometimes and I know this kind of book has a HEA but I don’t know. Kind of cheapens it for me I guess.

Abby Jimenez does it again!

This book did something for my acts of service heart! Adrian had me swooning from start to finish 🥰 Abby respectfully touched on sensitive topics like substance use disorder and terminal illness while still making a great romance. This book reminded me to cherish the beauty in the mundane.
