briarrose1021's review against another edition

The king is dead. It is time for the oldest son to be crowned as the new king. But it's not going to be that easy because the younger brother also wants the throne and, with the support of the military from having been a general and fought alongside them, has a path to the throne.
Set in a medieval world, there is lots of intrigue and some action in this novella. While the story line is somewhat predictable in its outcome, the author still does well in telling the story and drawing the reader in.
Having listened to the audiobook, I was somewhat let down by the narrator - Chiquito Joaquim Crasto. There were mistakes in the audio, such as repeated sentences, as well as an apparent lack of feeling from the narrator. It was almost like the narrator thought that all he needed to do was to use a gruff voice and everything would be okay; instead, it came across as flat in much of the dialogue, which made it hard to pay attention. As much as I enjoy audiobooks, I would have to say that I enjoyed this book in spite of the audio performance, as opposed to because of it.
