This is one of my favorite books ever! August and Emery have my heart in their hands. This is my second time reading this book and I need to own it in paperback, Now!!

Emery is such a wonderful surprise!!! What I love most about the Unexpected series is how each story is so different from the next. You really go on a journey of emotions while reading these beautiful love stories and Emery is another welcome addition. It has elements of the the previous entries including cuddling and intense possessiveness while remaining wholly unique due to its characters.

What makes Emery such a standout is Emery himself. Emery is such a fun, random, direct, chaotic bundle of energy with absolutely no filter. His backstory is especially tough to digest just because of the trauma he endured, but even though he has mental and physical ramifications from his abuse he has such a sunny disposition, which makes him the perfect complement to August. August is stoic, seemingly perfect, while offering constant support and safety to Emery, which only enhances their connection.

Overall Emery takes you on a surprising emotional journey between these two characters that are utterly perfect for one another, there are just a few road blocks along the way. I love seeing both Emery and August's relationship naturally grow, there are both heartwarming and heartbreaking moments that only elevates this perfect love story.

I thought I would like this one the most and it was easily my least favorite. I get why emery is the way he is but holy shit he was so annoying
