Fantastic, I was a bit worried by one of the Van Beek boys not being in this book’s relationship and I didn’t need to be. After how much I loved the Van Beeks on the rest of the series I was worried this book wouldn’t live up. I’m delighted to say this book has all the ridiculous shenanigans that highlight the joy of the series.
This book deals with some tough themes so check TWs. Even mixed with the tough themes though there is always room for joy in this book.
This is August’s first queer relationship. While he doesn’t have a gay panic moment in the book about Emery, he does panic about coming out to his mom. August coming out is a huge point of drama for the story. The drama feels much more low stakes though than when a first time queer man gay often panics in books like this.
