A definite change from the previous two books, but in a good way. It's a rollercoaster of emotions, one moment you are laughing the next you are tearing up. I really like how the author connects previous books to the next. Overall, an enjoyable read but would recommend you read the content warnings before picking up the book.

I’ve read Emery before, but I forgot how much I adored it. Emery is the sweetest little baby and watching him get his happily ever after made my heart so happy. Parts of the story hurt for sure, but it made the payoff so much sweeter. I loved seeing how they were both so different from what the other expected, and how their characters were revealed was so good.
The development between Emery and Thomas was also so good and seeing how they worked to repair their relationship and really put in that effort instead of just a quick fix where everything was suddenly fine made it even better.
The cameos from past and future characters were so funny, and I can’t decide who I’m more excited for next, Luke and Elliot or Lex.

The books in this series are so weird and have no basis in reality and I love them.

Fantastic, I was a bit worried by one of the Van Beek boys not being in this book’s relationship and I didn’t need to be. After how much I loved the Van Beeks on the rest of the series I was worried this book wouldn’t live up. I’m delighted to say this book has all the ridiculous shenanigans that highlight the joy of the series.

This book deals with some tough themes so check TWs. Even mixed with the tough themes though there is always room for joy in this book.

This is August’s first queer relationship. While he doesn’t have a gay panic moment in the book about Emery, he does panic about coming out to his mom. August coming out is a huge point of drama for the story. The drama feels much more low stakes though than when a first time queer man gay often panics in books like this.

Cora Rose is one of my favorite new authors. I've loved every book I've read by her so far and this book was no different.
This story and the characters were beautifully written. I loved the ADHD representation and how well it showed how it can effect life. It also showed living with diabetes and PTSD, just not quite to the extent ADHD was shown.
This story follows Emery and August who just became stepbrothers. There's a bit of dislike-to-like at at the start (not quite enemies or hate to love), but as August comes to understand Emery his dislike and frustrations with him quickly fade. They get lost driving to a winter cabin for a family vacation and have to survive a night trapped in a car together during the winter. They connect and learn some things about each other while stuck in the snow. The rest of the story follows the ups and downs of them figuring out their attraction and what to do with it.
Emery has ADHD golden-retriever energy. He can be a bit OTT and annoying due to how heavily his ADHD effect him, but is one of the most lovable characters I've read in a while. He's full of depth and nuance.
August was the perfect balance to Emery's constant unpredictable energy. He accepted Emery for who he was and their relationship was really beautiful. I did get frustrated with August's struggle to tell his mom about their relationship, but it didn't ruin the story for me.
I found this story to a refreshing take on the stepbrothers trope and I really enjoyed reading the story.
