These books are simply too entertaining to not ignore any logical or moral issues in the book. Is the amount of misogyny coming from some of her mates something I will not get over even if they may change their view of her? Yes, but honestly I don't think I am reading this book for the RH but mostly for my favorite fMC so it' okay. Did I wonder for a short time why her "monster" suddenly just doesn't get mentioned anymore but also not the absence of it or did the incredibly staged the revelation of Aran's past make the scene feel like badly scripted RealityTV? Maybe for a short time...but then I ignored it because I am reading this book for the vibes.
And the vibes are (mental) torture, Aran being iconic and depression but in like a sometimes fun way.

Shocker, they were violently angry.
Men had no emotional range.

This book doesn’t have a conclusion to Aran’s story and while the book feels finished it does end on a cliffhanger. When I reached the 90% mark and realized that it would be impossible to wrap everything up and see Aran happy I was honestly a bit devastated. Aran’s suffering in this book is intense and I broke me that this book ended without her finding stability.
My new aesthetic was cozy, drug-dependent swamp monster.
Not to brag, but I nailed the look.
